Jealousy

Ortho appointment today...ended in disappointment. I keep being told that I "only have one appointment left" and then they end up scheduling more and more and more. I was supposed to get my braces off 6 months ago. Frustration is starting to set in. I keep reading about people that get there braces off within 3 months after surgery (like I was SUPPOSED to), and I can't help but getting incredibly jealous! I think my 2 orthos don't talk about my case to each other enough so their plans for me don't match up.

I was promised to have my braces off by Prom, since its pretty much the only thing to look forward to in high school, but it looks like that isn't going to happen. I have three important events within 10 days: Prom, graduation, and my 18th birthday. Maybe I will follow what I did for my 15th birthday and get them off on the day of my birthday :)

Also, my bite has become increasingly crooked. My left side overlaps with my top teeth WAY more than it does on the right side but the orthodontist said its totally normal. I also have almost an overbite now :/ ANYWAYS, to top it all off I have 7 IB/AP exams in the next 15 days. Thats 13 testing sessions. I've finished one. Somebody please tell me what I was thinking when I signed up for IB. Thank god for non-IB friends, they keep me sane :)

8.5 Months

Nothing new really to say, I have another appointment to see my ortho on wednesday and hopefully its my last appointment before getting my braces off. My trip to New York last month went great and there were no complications with the surgery. I was able to eat the next day just fine!

Surgery numero dos complete!

I had my surgery this morning to remove the stitch from the base of my nose that was bugging me a lot. It went really well, the longest part was sitting in the waiting room! While I was going under, I swear I saw a two source wave interference pattern, IB physics follows me everywhere hahaha. And when I woke up one of the nurses was talking about how she was going to make a match.com ad for herself...awk.
I am not in any pain and I am leaving for NYC  tomorrow so I have to be all healed up. Good luck to Mindy who is in the midst of her jaw surgery journey!

6 months!

Last Sunday marked 6 months since getting double jaw surgery. I wish I could say they flew by and I remember it like yesterday...but I can't! It actually seems like ages ago. I still have braces but they are coming off very soon! My orthodontist just wants to move 1 tooth over a bit, and then I'm alllll done. As for the infection, its still there. The antibiotics didn't do anything really because it still hurts like crazy. The surgery to get the infected stitch removed could be any day now, we are just waiting for an appointment!

I am thoroughly enjoying every bit of post-surgery life. I eat gum almost everyday with no problems, same with steak, pizza, all the other difficult foods pre-surgery. As of now the only foods I can not eat are things I can't eat because of my braces, like whole apples, or corn on the cob.

In other news, I got a full ride to the University of Portland. No biggie :) Still waiting for the all important University of Washington letter though!

Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas tree! Day: who knows!

I am the worst blogger of all time! Yes, it has been just about two months since I've last written. I have been so incredibly busy with school but now I am on winter break so I finally have time to catch up on sleep/eating/blogging. What also drew me to blogging today in particular was the fact that my jaw kept locking and popping today so I am coming to you my fellow jaw bloggers for advice! I have been doing great with eating for the past 2 months and all of a sudden I can only open my mouth half the time I try. And my swelling has gone up again! I think its because if the screw coming through my nose :/ I found that out during my last ortho appointment! It actually really scares me. Anyways, pictures now!
Weird swelling that came back

Day 75!

Finally time for a real update :) I finally have TIME for it! So I guess I have to start from last month! I have been eating since 5.5 weeks, I was VERY impatient. The only things I have'nt eaten are raw vegetables and hard fruits, and burgers are difficult but I figure out my ways :) Eating at school has become soooo much easier. It was weird at first to eat in front of people but I brought "clean" food for the first couple days of chewing so I didn't make a fool of myself!

In terms of swelling, its like 80% gone, just some left right next to my nose. I had gotten all feeling back in my face/jaw, but after I started chewing I have slowly started to not be able to feel my bottom lip and cheek anymore :( This happen to anyone else? Also, if I chew too much, my top jaw screws start to hurt!

I went on my first trip 7 weeks after surgery, and everything went well, except eating the cheese from my crepe! I think I even had a burger that week, but maybe it was the week after that.

If anyone has any questions please let me know! Too much time has passed since I last wrote a real post, so  I'm probably missing a ton of stuff, but feel free to ask :)
